Arctic Survival Toronto Team Building Storyline

    Arctic Team Building

This is the Toronto team building storyline. It will be customized for team building in other parts of Canada and other countries.

It was supposed to be the adventure of a lifetime for you and your team....a dog sledding adventure in the Canadian arctic and winter camping in quinzhees....but, you couldn't resist going for it.

A wild race across the tundra, lots of laughs - and suddenly you're separated from your guides and the rest of your party.

You've lost your money, your identification, your passports, and your airline tickets. You have enough food to last a week. All you have is your snowshoes, the clothes on your backs, your survival packs, and the one "luxury" item you managed to sneak inside your gear. You're alone in our teams, struggling to get back to civilization.

You're not too worried. Your Inuit guides told you they'd send out a search party. In the meantime, you must come up with a plan. Your guides will help you implement it and get the word out when you are rescued.

    Arctic Team Building

You build quinzhees and get a good night's sleep before you consider your options. Note: Only those who desire will sleep in quinzhees.

The next morning, you pull out the Arctic Survival package that your Inuit guides gave you and you begin to develop your strategy using idea chains, mind maps, storyboards, flow charts, and force field analysis. You'll forage for food, identify a product that you can manufacture in your winter wonderland to raise money, and design a marketing strategy that you can implement upon rescue.

Whenever you hear the sound of the sleigh bells, you'll meet in the Giant Quinzhee to compete with the other team for valuable prizes and resources.

These effective but simple tools are intended to give team members a common frame of reference and assist teams by simplifying analysis of complex situations particularly during tight timeframes.

If your team is already familiar with these tools and using them on a regular basis, we can substitute with other tools.

Alternatively, we can make team building process focused rather than tool focused. This will involve additional costs as we will require one observer/assistant facilitator per team to observe and provide feedback about group dynamics during team challenges.
