Images of Singapore on Sentosa Island offers a primer on Singapore's history and give a flavour of the ethnic groups that have shaped Singapore's culture. Then, visit Little India where you can sample authentic Indian cuisine, view Hindu temples and, of course, shop at The Mustafa Centre, a world famous shopping experience. Stroll the streets of Chinatown and vist traditional shophouses, Thien Hock Keng, Singapore's oldest Chinese temple, and Tea Chapter, an authentic Chinese tearoom.

Anne's Travel Journal:

I first arrived in Singapore in January, 2000 to conduct a session for managers and executives at a fashionable Orchard Road hotel. My first impressions of Singapore were bright, warm, lush, green, and clean. I was particularly impressed by the amount of green space Singapore has managed to incorporate into an urban area. The term urban jungle came to my mind but in a good way. There were trees, flowers and rich foliage everywhere. It was a few days before the Chinese New Year so Singapore was beautifully decorated with red lanterns that gave the city an enchanting glow at night. During that trip, I explored Chinatown with traditional shophouses and the fortune telling birds in cages. In Little India, the authentic Indian meal (which I ate traditional style with my hands) was absolutely delicious. When I returned a few months later durng the Flower Festival, the colourful and elaborate decorations were all fashioned out of flowers and truly beautiful. I spent a few days at the end of my Asian tour in 2002, exploring Sentosa Island. If you go be sure to Be sure to visit Images of Singapore, the Magical Merlion at night and the southernmost tip of Asia. In 2003, I decided that it was time for me to visit the Raffles Hotel. The corridors were just filled with history. Once could almost picture the rich and famous of a bygone era strolling in the garden. The afternoon tea was definitely more like a meal with a full buffet consisting of savoury delights....and, best of all, I finally got to try the Singapore Sling for which the Raffles Hotel is famous.
