Flight Time to United Arab Emirates (Dubai or Abu Dhabi)
To provide your team with the greatest comfort and also allow for the fullest itinerary, it is best to arrange for a morning arrival in Dubai (e.g. between 0500 and 1100).
City Tour, Desert Safaris, Mountain Excursions, Gold Souk, Spice Souk, Heritage Village, Dhow Dinner Cruises, Jumana Desert Dinner Show
Dubai Heritage Village, Dubai Polo Club, Dhow Cruise on the Dubai Creek
Dinner in the Sky
Luxury Indulgences:
Luxury Desert Safari, Dinner in the Sky, Polo Clinic, Helicopter Tour with Landing on the Helipad at the Burj Al Arab, Afternoon tea at the Burj Al Arab, Catamaran Cruise, Sea plane, Hot Air Ballooning over the Desert.
In Deira, the area surrounding the Dubai Creek, you get a glimpse of Dubai's maritime and pearl diving traditions. Then, hop into an Abra, cross the Dubai Creek and you'll be able to view incredible architecture, the Dubai museum and traditional mosques.
I highly recommend a Dhow dinner cruise on the Dubai Creek for an absolutely mesmerizing view of this area. You'll be able to see Dubai of the present as a backdrop to this part of the city and have a context in which to place the current development.
If you can visit the Dubai Heritage Village at night, you'll find yourself strolling through a fairy tale environment, an Arabian Nights fantasy that includes a traditional tented Bedouin village, wooden chests, cooking utensils, and ancient armoury. You'll have an opportunity to explore the Sheikh Saeed Al Maktoum House next door. Built in 1896, it was the residence of the former ruler Sheikh Saeed Al Maktoum, who lived there until his death in 1958. Suspended in time, it will give you a sense of the explosive growth and development that has become synonymous with Dubai.
Dubai of the Present:
They say that the Dubai skyline changes every 6 months. Recently, in the area near the Burj Al Arab, I counted over 100 mega high rise buildings under construction....and then I stopped counting. The world has come to Dubai and no one knows when the growth will end.
I recommend a stay of at least 2 nights at one of the beach hotels where you'll be able to see some of the landmarks for which Dubai has become famous. You'll pass the familiar Burj Al Arab and Jumeirah Beach Hotel as well as the Burj Khalifa, the tallest structure in the world that is still under construction. You'll also be able to
shop for designer fashions at Mall of the Emirates or Ibn Batuta Mall, a mall with international theming. When you are at Mall of the Emirates, you can also go skiing. Yes skiing on snow in what was up until recently the heart of the desert.
Dubai of the Future:
Venture out into the desert and you will see the Arabian Ranches that Emaar Properties is developing. Here you'll find the Dubai Polo Club and Riding Club.
Venture further out into the desert and you'll pass the area in which 40 upscale resorts with world destinations themes are slated for development.
Dubai is re-inventing itself on land and at sea. Transforming the coastline is the largest collection of man made islands in the world. You'll find the Map (of the World) and the Palm Island Trilogy consisting of Palm Jumeirah,
Palm Jebel Ali and the Palm Deira which are currently being developed by our clients, upscale real estate development moguls Dubai World/Nakheel.
If you stay in a seaview room at the Madinat Jumeirah, you can stand on your balcony and watch the Palm Jumeirah take shape. You can watch the Palm Jebel Ali emerging from the sea as you stand on your balcony at the Jebel Ali Golf Resort and Spa. From the revolving restaurant on top of the Hyatt Regency, you can get a front row seat and watch the development of the Deira Palm.
Anne's Travel Journal:
I first fell in love with Dubai in 2000 during a stopover after a session I offered in Mumbai. Due to my knowledge of this destination, I was selected by the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) for the Toronto leg of its cross-Canada Roadshow at the prestigious Royal York Hotel in November, 2007.
Dubai has changed dramatically during the last 8 years but my love affair with this destination has blossomed. As a result of these changes, I think of Dubai as not one but 3 dramatically different incentive travel destinations.
The best way to see the Dubai of the past, present and future is from the Al Dawaar Revolving Restaurant, located on the 25th floor of Hyatt Regency Dubai, one of our favourites. The view of the Arabian Gulf, the Dubai Creek, the Palm Deira, and the city is spectacular from that location. If you have the budget for it, a helicopter tour of Dubai will give your team a panoramic view of the city.
I can guarantee that, if you select Dubai as the destination for your next incentive, you'll take your team and your clients on an unforgettable and magical journey that they will be raving about for years.
